Edna McCants Harlem, New York
As she walked through a 10 Million Dollar home, the 31 year-old special needs educator and motivational healer couldn’t help but stop to take a pause. She inhaled the present moment of her surroundings and exhaled her fears of anything that almost stopped her from experiencing this day. Edna McCants was a long way from Harlem, New York; and, for the first time in her life, she felt bigger than she’d ever been. She knew The Boss Summit was a place where she could make her mark, but she had no idea how much bigger that mark would grow once she returned home.
The year 2020 marked the most money Edna McCants had ever spent on her business. From merchandise to marketing expenses, she saw a vision for her business that she was set on executing. The more she invested, the more her business bloomed. In response to her growth, she began investing her time. Edna would spend hours on Clubhouse, on her Instagram story and even travel to meet like minded speakers to further grow her brand.
Hearing about The Boss Summit was simply the icing on the cake. With the support of her family, Edna booked her ticket, planned her stay and began envisioning her time at this one of a kind getaway. Everything was falling into place perfectly. Life was moving quickly and her business was following suit. However, it wasn’t long before she was forced to take a pause and reflect on what was truly going on around her.
Right before making her final payment to secure her spot at the summit, Edna’s family member took his own life on a social media platform. The news brought her back to only a few months ago, to when her older brother had also taken his own life. As an advocate for mental wellness, Edna could not shake the feeling of empathy, not only for her family but for all who could resonate with their pain.
Weeks before the summit, Edna felt lost. She had reduced the amount of sharing to her social media accounts to spend more time reflecting on herself. She even began distancing herself from love ones and spending more time in solitude. But, as the days got closer and closer to the summit, Edna used her upcoming trip to refocus her energy toward a brighter direction. It worked.
As she stepped into the home of the Spring 2021 Boss Summit, it struck her like a spark of lightening, “My Purpose Is Bigger.” She realized that her voice was an instrument for those who were unable to speak. Edna spent her time at The Boss Summit getting to know every single woman present on a first name basis. Her notebook was consistently on hand or nearby and her mind was filled with questions. She made a promise to herself at the summit; she promised herself that there was no going back from this moment. It was time to move forward and move bigger.
For her tenacity and unstoppable vision, Edna McCants is being awarded the Spring 2021 Boss Summit $1000.00 Scholarship toward her small business, The Soul of Me Empowerment.
From one Boss to another, the scholarship funding is being provided by Ms. Cheryl Fulmore and Ms. Mikelya Fournier.
